a sight for sore eyes

It doesn't matter that I've spent the first 18 years of my life in these places, every time I come back, there are always new things to discover, new secret places to find, and old ones to revisit and become overcome with nostalgia. Although I've always wanted to leave, and couldn't wait to graduate and see new places, I'm always thankful for the little towns I grew up in and the adventures they brought me. This is a favorite spot of mine, not far from my house...it holds the same sights as always but they still remain breath-taking to me. I especially enjoy coming back to these places with Gavin and sharing favorite stories and memories that happened there. I find this place especially enchanting in the winter, there are times when everything is covered in snow and frost and it looks like something straight out of a C.S Lewis novel ( some of my favorite growing up). I've always been dragging around this scarf everywhere. When I saw it on my brother I'd been borrowing it every day since, so he was clever and got me one of my own for christmas. Thick Scarves are my absolute favorite in cold weather, especially ones like this with such an interesting print!

Holiday Cheer

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope everyone's holidays have been wonderful so far, I know mine have been. It was the first time we've had the entire family together in such a long time, it was so lovely. Christmas Eve everyone gathered at my moms house (including my two adorable nieces); having kids around makes it so much more special, it brings back that chrsitmas magic we tend to lose as we get older. Having been so busy, I wore the same dress as last year from ROMWE, which is great for me, any time this dress is appropriate to wear, I take advantage!  As usual I kept my jewlery simple, these stack rings from Nicki Stark Jewlery which are simplistic and elegant. I really haven't taken them off since I recieved them. You can see more of these gorgeous piees on her website HERE. Now the travelling continues, I will try to post as much as possible between family visits ! Happy holidays!

Christmas Traditions with Aegean

Repeating old traditions is probably one of the very best things about the holidays. For instance, on christmas eve my brothers, sisters and I get to do our gift exchange and were allowed to open one pre-determined gift...which always happened to be a new pair of cozy pijamas in! For as long as I can remember I have spent the eve of Christmas cozzied up in a fresh pair of warm flannels. Lucky for me, I got to experience a nice new cozy pair of PJ's a little in advance thanks to Aegean Apparel . There's nothing like the feel of covering yourself in new flannels, add a nice hot chocolate to the mix and there's nothing cozier! This pair of PJ's from Aegean are certainly no exception, not only are they the most comfortable pieces of clothing I own, they are appropriately festive and fun enough to wear in any season. I would definitely check them out for some last minute christmas shopping or even as a way to treat yourself for the new year! I know I'm obsessed ^.^

Orange is the new black

I was lucky enough to get some shots in on this day, as it was the last warm day it seems. Since the temperature is dropping dirastically and I'm getting ready to hibernate any time now. In this post I'm wearing a few old favorites...this feathered hat is so unique, the green and orange make for such an interesting combination, however, I am lacking the color orange in my closet, so I took a little fringe kimono I had and wrapped it into a scarf. It's so fun finding multiple uses/ways to wear some pieces.
Also, I've been spending most of my time scrambling to get ready for christmas, and am still not prepared. This is so unlike me, I'm usually done before November, but this year has been so full of changes and adventure, I've been losing my edge when it comes to being prepared. Only 4 days left though, I can't wait!

that go-to dress

This dress from Asos has been a favorite of mine since I recieved it. It's like wearing an over-sized t-shirt (and we all know how comfortable those are and how we wish we could wear them all the time!) Season after seaon it's been my go-to outfit and I'm sure it will be for some time.
I'm currently home (going between temiscaming and mattawa as it is the holidays and I'm trying to visit everyone). The snow here is rediculous, but so so beautiful and getting me especially excited for Christmas!

Watermelons in the snow

We are well into December now, and while there is plenty of snow on the ground, we still seem to be experiencing a good amount of mild weather...sweater weather with snow is some of the best weather in my opinion. It was on this mild day I decided to wear my new dress from OASAP which I instantly fell in love with. It's not my first melon dress, I seem to have a bit of an obsession but there is something so happy and bright about it. I know it's much more of a spring/summer dress, but I honestly couldn't resist it. Besides, it presents a bit of a fun challenge to style a summer garment for the winter months. I paired it with a bright red hat and sweater to make the melond stand out a little more...and of course my water-melon purse to match ;) The mild weather has made it much easier to go on nature walks and enjoy the snow, so I'm trying to soak it all up as much as I can before the horrible -40 weather that never fails in the coming months! Happy December all!

staying cozy with Minitake

I've  been horrible at keeping up with my blog lately, those of you who follow me on instagram have probably figured out why...well, I got married last weekend! I won't go too much into detail because there is a post coming up on the day, but that's why I've been so inactive on here. Now that it's over though, I can get back to my regular posts and will also be opening my etsy shop this sunday!
Well, winter seems to be officially here, it's been snowing non-stop and the temperature drops lower each day. this cozy cardigan from Minitake.com has been doing an incredible job in keeping me warm during these cold days. It's almost as though I'm wearing a blanket, it's so big and thick and comfortable! I paired it with my favorite grey heathered hat from UO and a dress I don't wear often enough, but am incredibly smitten with none-the-less. It always takes me a while to let go of my summer dresses, I force layers on them to make them last as far into the colder season as possible...this sweater has definitely been helpful on that account.
I hope your December is lovely so far, the countdown to the holidays has begun, so exciting!

Back to December

I feel as though I need to apologixe for my lack of blogging. Things have been crazier than ever, and I've had an excessive amount of planning/preparing in very little time. Because of all these fast life changes, I haven't been able to keep up with my posts, but I promise that will all change next week. along with some very exciting news! Anyway, I thought it might be a fun idea to share some of my favorite winter looks from last year, in honor of the first day of December. This is one of my favorite months, and I'm trying my best not to get too excited about the holiday season, but it is just too hard. The snowfalls, the food, the lights, family and friends which you haven't seen in ages...there's just so much to apreciate in this month. I hope your December started off as great as mine ^.^
