Forest's first Christmas

Forest's First Christmas is certainly one I will always remember. Christmas Eve brought the most intense winds of the year coming in at 90km/h but with no snow in sight (I had my very first green Christmas). Storm warnings were being broadcasted and we ended up losing power right before dinner...my parents ended up finishing our Christmas Eve dinner on the barbeque and we ate in the soft glow of Candlelight. The air seemed eerie, but Christmas magic returned when the power turned back on later that night, right before we siblings exchanged gifts. We were all completely emotional, especially being touched by my brother Jager's heart and kindness. Having the whole family together, on this completely bizarre yet wonderful day made this Christmas one of the very best one's yet. Forest so enjoyed being surrounded by the love everyone has for him and we can't wait to see what next Christmas has in store for us!

Christmas Baking!

When I was growing up, Christmastime meant sliding on deadman's hill until the sun had long gone to rest and our toes were ice cold. It meant comming home to hot chocolate and cinnamon sticks that we always used as straws. It meant fort building and snow ball throwing with the neighborhood kids, late night drives in the country, listening to christmas music and marvelling at the elaboate lights on passing homes. It meant family gatherings and an abundance of good food! It was waking at four in the morning on Christmas day, exciededly opening up stockings whilst watching snow dogs.
Now I am a guest in your little world, and I get to watch as your life unfolds before you...A haze that washed over the high-pitched screams, laughter and storytelling we all shared. The delicious smell coming the soup your dad was cooking in the kitchen while tiny hands mixed and molded cookie dough .A hurridness to our morning that remained unspoken so it did not ruin the magic being made. Memories of your very first Christmas coming into shape beneath a blurred lense easing into focus. Memories that ring of girlish laughter, shadow puppet shows, dad's soup and messy cookies...memories of the love that is shared among every one present.

Moments: days of enchantment

These days of enchantment have been magnified by the presence of a sweet Forest Prince. Outside, snowflakes descend from the clouds in a slow dance, shinning brilliantly as they catch and release the light coming from the semi-hidden sun.  Ice crystals imprinting onto the earth’s surface only to dissipate hours later as though the magic they carried was too powerful for us to encounter, that we could only catch a fleeting glimpse. The cold air outdoors made the air indoors that much warmer and sweeter like freshly baked apple pie resting warmly in your tummy. Winter walks followed by hot chocolate and cinnamon, Christmas music playing in the background as we dance and sing and decorate our humble abode.  Forest’s sweet smile and glow in his eyes as he watches the twinkling lights all around him, in love and awe at the honeyed season.  The delicate smell of pine needles wafting through our home mixing with scents of sugar cookies, cakes and coffee being forged by our bare hands in anticipation for Holiday Company. Cold bodies unthawing together in the warmth of layered blankets while sleepy eyes adjust to the morning light, wanting for naught but rest and the leisure of an unhurried existence…so we sleep; and when we wake, we cuddle together like campers around a warm fire, our ardor for a steady glow resonating continuously as we resume our day. This has been our lives as of late: sleepiness in between the charms of our current season. Life is beautiful.

Holiday Cheer

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope everyone's holidays have been wonderful so far, I know mine have been. It was the first time we've had the entire family together in such a long time, it was so lovely. Christmas Eve everyone gathered at my moms house (including my two adorable nieces); having kids around makes it so much more special, it brings back that chrsitmas magic we tend to lose as we get older. Having been so busy, I wore the same dress as last year from ROMWE, which is great for me, any time this dress is appropriate to wear, I take advantage!  As usual I kept my jewlery simple, these stack rings from Nicki Stark Jewlery which are simplistic and elegant. I really haven't taken them off since I recieved them. You can see more of these gorgeous piees on her website HERE. Now the travelling continues, I will try to post as much as possible between family visits ! Happy holidays!
