The Calm

Life is started to settle to quiet days around home with my little family. Since Forest's birth, there's been an event or plans for an adventure almost every single week. As I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan of keeping busy, but I've been enjoying our quiet time lately too. How fun it is to get all bundled up in knits, coffee and baby in tow to go to the lake and watch the sunset, head for a walk in near by trails or simply stay in and soak up eachother's company. These days are filled with a calming sweetness that wil never get old. I hope this season is treating you all as well as it is treating me :)

Growing Forest (part one)

Overwhelmed by how many photos there are in this post? Trust me, this is me narrowing it down (and if you read the title, you see it's only part one!) Gavin and I recently had the pleasure of being photographed by a local photographer Marie-Pier. We wanted some photos to capture the most magical time of our lives so far...the growing of our first child Forest! This pregnancy has had it's ups and some downs as most life-changing events do, but it has truly transformed us and strengthened our bond. I've never felt a love so extreme and emotional, towards my son and my husband. Marie-Pier has captured this feeling in such a beautiful way, I will treasure these photos for as long as I live. Please check out her photography page on Facebook, and don't resist your urge to "like" it (the urge will be very real, her work is flawless!)
Part Two is on the way!

Embroidery and Star-y Skies

I've been very drawn to neutral/muted colors lately, I feel as though my summer wardrobe will be filled with simplistic pretty dresses like this one from SHEINSIDE. I especially love it in contast with the gloomy backdrop we had, thanks to the constant rain clouds. I've been particularily enjoying my night walks in this weather because of all the mist and fog that has been covering alot of the surrounding wooded areas.
I paired this dress with my favorite earrings from Under The Shade of A Bonsai Tree , whose work I've previously praised on here. My obsession with the night sky is perfectly reflected in these unique star printed earrings. I like for my jewelry and wardrobe in general to reflect me and my interests, or else what's the point? Wearing meaningful pieces makes getting dressed everyday so much funner!

Sacred Spaces

Lately I've had to take the time to listen to my mind and body and take things a bit easier. I find I can get so wrapped up in every day duties/preparing for the future/creating daily that when it gets to easy to overlook my needs. So, I've added more greenery to my room, which is the room I like most to relax and heal in...as well as those little things that bring about good energy: healing crystals, plants, homemade creations like this gorgeous feather necklace made by UNDER THE SHADE OF A BONSAI TREE. Her creations are incredibly unique in both make and aesthetic which is why I love her shop so much. I strongly recommend checking it out, especially if you have an appreciation for eccentric, well-made pieces as I do!

70's lace & a baby bump

It is now my 25th week growing my little Forest, and time seems to be passing faster than ever. I think back to when I first found out I was expecting and it seems like a lifetime ago...for the first four months, I was very sick and the pregnancy was high risk and so I was on bed rest alot (which is one of the reasons we took so long to announce, we wanted to be sure everything would be okay). In those four months, time seemed to have passed v e r y  s l o w l y. Thankfully, the passed month or so the pregnancy is gowing alot smoother, and I feel like I can breathe and relax, and also let myself get excited. After finding out we were having a boy, time seemed to move quicker...preparing for his arrival has been the highlight of my life and seeing how much my belly is growing gives me such joy. Of course there are a million things to stress about, this is my first child after all and what do I know? But I'm choosing to be thankful for life mysteries as well as its hardships as these are things that have helped me grow into the person I needed to be. The more my belly grows the more I grow with it in preperation for our little boy. It's important to remember that life moves at its own pace and the right things will fall into place when it's meant to.
