D.I.Y Wool Wall Hanging

Yesterday I was baby free ( My dad had him for the day so that I could rest a bit ), but as I'm not the lay-on-the-couch-all-day-watching-tv type I decided to try a little d.i.y project I've been meaning to get around to! It's definitely not perfect, but I always like my decor 1.handmade 2.a little wonky, you know something that shows it's unique and made with real hands!

All I used were:
1.thick branch (these can be found anywhere outside or in a woodland area ;) )

2. A string of twine

3.Scissors

4.Wool

5.Box (or something that can be used to measure string)

First Step: Take the twine and tie it tightly around both ends of your stick. This will be how your wall hanging will hang, so make sure it's the length you want, and test it out by hanging it off a nail or something before continuing.

Second Step: Take your wool and something to measure (I used this box) and simply wrapped it around 5 times (you can do more or less depending on how thick you want your string hanging), cut the end so you have five long pieces of string.

Third Step: Take the string and fold in over each side of the branch, then the knot you will do is in a single loop. So create a loop and bring around all the string through it and pull it tight. Keep repeating the 2nd and 3rd step until your branch is filled the way you like it.

Final Step: I wanted my wall hanging to be slanting toward the middle and so I trimmed the sides to angle downward.

DIY: plant hanger

Happy New Years Eve! Our blog is ending the year with a little D.I.Y project, as I keep getting asked where I get my decor and other than Celine's Painted Treasures, my stuff is made by me! My newest project has been this Plant Hanger and it turned out exactly how I imagined! I'm excited to share it with you all. 

Let's get started, here is what I used:

1 beautiful large branch (you can find this OUTDOORS haha)

3 jars (thrifted)

A string of twine

White string

Scissors

Three Rubber bands

Dried plants

I began with the simplest part, I wrapped and tied the twine on each end of my stick to hang as a triangle.

I then proceded to tie a rubber band around each jar where I wanted my string to hang. I simply used it as friction for the string. I'm not a rocket scientist so who knows if this actually makes a difference haha.

Then I took my white string and looped it around the jar a couple of times where the rubber bands are tied.

I then used a seperate piece of string to tie in a quadroople (???) knot around the band + string tied around the top of the jar, linking it to the branch. I then looped it three times around the branch before tying it.

I did the same thing with the two other jars, however I did not measure my string. I layed it out and used my eye to measure what length I liked. I also didn't want them semetrical in height, so it worked out perfectly!

I then hung it on a cieling hook and voila! Forest loves it also!

27 weeks

Today is the first day of my 27th week, also the first day of my third trimester. Forest will be here before we know it and now it's a race to finish everything that needs to be done. A baby shower is part of that. Although we will only be having it at the end of may (almost the end of my pregnancy), I've been trying to plan and prepare as best I can ahead of time. I've been crafting and creating the invites myself, I want it to be very personal, as it is an important day. I can't wait to have all of our family and friends together in one room celebrating the amazing tiny being inside me, and I want to make it as magical as possible. All I need is all the vines and all the doughnuts I can possibly collect and I think we'll be good ;)

D.I.Y dream catchers//wall hangings

It's funny where inspiration can spring from. For example, the other day I was wearing this lovely dress from Sheinside admiring the interesting mix of colors and patterns and became suddenly inspired to make the space around me a little more interesting as well. Since my most recent move, I haven't really made time to decorate my space as I usually do, and the largest wall in my room is just plain white. I tried thinking of easy, homemade ways to make the wall a little more interesting and came up with a triangle dream catcher and moved on to other cute hangings that you can see in the photo above. It was incredibly easy to do and all you need is:

sticks,

a few different colors of string,

scisors,

crystals or pendants

I shaped the sticks into the pattern I wanted and began to tie the ends together tightly with string.

After you finish fastening the ends together to accomplish the shape you want, take some string and begind tying it around the bottom row like this:

Then have a crystal, stone or pendant hang from the center and voila! easy as pie (easier, in fact). It was so easy and fun to make, I look forward to seeing what other little creations come from this idea.

To think my wall was so easily made pretty with sticks and crystals...I love how our earth gives us so much and have lately been changing habbits and planning for more of a minimalist natural envrionment. Having just had a birthday and expecting I've been thinkig alot about these things and so far I'm enjoying the transition. Breezy beautiful dresses like this one certainly help in the process of valuying comfort in any environment ;)
