Dressing up Bridesmaids

Having just gotten married myself, I've spent a good deal of time searching for the perfect wedding dress, but also the perfect Bridesmaid dress options as well! Dresses are another part of the wedding decor after all; they help tie the entire theme/ambiance you've always pictured for your special day. However, choosing dresses for your bridesmaids can be more tricky, because of course you want it to suit the wedding, but you also want them to love what they're wearing as well...that's when it becomes helpful to find shops with endless options in terms of silhouette, neckline and length. Once again Millybridalshop.com comes to the rescue with an amazing selection of BridesMaid Dresses which are sure to suit any setting at an affordable price. I've listed a few of my own favorites bellow:

This dress takes the cake for me...it has everything I would personally want for my own Bridesmaids; the fact that they are floor-length brings an air of romance and elegance, yet the simplistic over-all style of the dress ensures that it is not over-done. The soft ruffling at the neckline and lovely slit up the leg are the only detail needed, and I am smitten. The dress seems to breathe well and move well with the body so that the transition from walking down the aisle to dancing the night away will be easy and comfortable. Not to mention it suits any hair style, flower bouquet and body type! I also love how soft the color is, and with the outdoor wedding trend going on right now, this dress would be perfect in an outdoor setting, as the color certainly suits any background.

Here is another floor-length option, with a subtle neckline and halter-top. I love the idea of a nice black and white wedding...picture how sharp these lovely black dresses will look next to a big white wedding dress! It would bring an air of a black-tie event which is a great look for a wedding! Again, we know that black goes with everything, it's often referred to as the most flattering color; not to mention the dress itself holds a great silhouette for all women.

Planning a nice vintage wedding? This dress has the perfect vintage look and feel to it, with its tea-length and satin material. The soft pink is subtle, but the satin makes it more prominent and makes a gorgeous background for whatever bouquet they might be carrying. The length will call for a pair of heels, although any heel height would do. The belt which sits above the waist is a wonderfully flattering addition and I believe this dress would do nicely in an indoor or outdoor setting!

These are just a few options; if you browse MillyBridalShop you will come across endless choices which are sure to match the over-all theme of your wedding, but also the tastes of your bridesmaids as well! To make it fun, plan a girls night in which you all get together to browse the options and find what best works for everyone. Trust me, it's better to make it fun than stressful, and these dresses are sure to please!

Sunlight, sunshine, all for you my daisy

I've been hibernating for quite some time now, but today the sun came out and it was too rare and beautiful not to go out and enjoy it, even for only a little while. I find it terribly difficult to drag myself out of the house when it's -30 degrees and more, which is has been lately. So instead, I stare out my window at the falling snow, or take drives in a storm, and enjoy the beauty outside while staying nice and warm inside. When I do venture out, I'm wearing an insane amount of layers...even here, on this warm day, I'm wearing an undershirt, a dress and midi skirt over top of it...not to mention hoisery a jacket and hat to keep the snow off of my head. I couldn't stay out for long in this though, a walk around the block at most...if I want a real snow adventure, I'm covered almost head to toe in thick and fluffly gear, which doesn't do great for blogging, so I do my best. Anyway, I hope your week is starting off on a good foot and everyone is keeping warm. Cheers!

Evening Wear for Any Occasion

Whether it's New Years Eve, a gala, a wedding...evening dresses are a must in the closet, and let's face it, probably the most enjoyable to shop for! Who doesn't love getting dolled up in a dress that makes you feel like royalty? Since it's new years eve, I've been shopping around the perfect evening dresses and found quite a few that have caught my eye so far from millybridalshop.com which are stunning, elegant and bring variety as well! Here are some of my personal favorites:

In my opinion, whatever the occasion, you can never go wrong with a classic black gown. This one is quite dazzling, and you are sure to manage admiration from all who see you in it. The sheer skirt makes it incredibly unique and elegant as well, I've never seen a dress quite like it, which makes it even more desirable. Because of the bare neckline, I'd add a bold silver necklace and matching bracelet to pull the look together! I think and up-do with some dangling earrings would pair nicely as well!

This beauteous red gown immediately caught my eye...red has a habit of doing that. It's proven to be the most eye-catching color, and looking at this gown, it's easy to see why. The way the dress hugs the figure before letting out just a bit at the knees gives a semblance of elegance that is breath-taking. Because the color is so bold, I'd pair this with some subtle jewelry, a thin necklace, and earrings. As for the hair, I picture an old Hollywood style, long pin curls to one side would make this whole look to die for!

If you find floor length a little too grandiose or perhaps just want to show a little leg, these white evening dresses are a great option. They are flow-y which gives you some leg room to dance, and yet still holds that polished flare! Not to mention it leaves the option for some statement shoes! The great thing about these dress styles is that you can create virtually any look you want; for something more elegant, a strappy thin heel...for something more casual, a nice wedge sandal would do nicely as well. I also think these styles call for a cute clutch in hand, something with a little sparkle or pearls would be ideal. Because of the necklines, I would avoid over-doing the look with a necklace and stick to earrings and a nice bracelet! I also think up-do's for the hair is more ideal to show off the neckline as well.
Whatever the look you're going for, be sure to browse millybridalshop.com 's  collection of evening dresses to find what you're looking for. They have a great selection of colors and styles that will be sure to fit your needs! Happy Shopping!

Ode to Autumn

I'd been going through some old files, trying to clean up my computer a bit, when I came accross these photos, which I'd apparently forgotten to post in October. Finding these was very bitter sweet for me, I'm happy to post some photos with the green I've been missing so much among all this white...but it really hit me how much I miss Ottawa already. I definitely wasn't ready to leave, and I really miss it every day...they do say home is where the heart is, and I left mine there it seems. I'm hoping it won't be too long until we can return, we will just have to see I guess.
This was a great day, spent adventuring around my old campus with a friend, soaking up the vines that I love so much. Now that Christmas is over, so is my love for snow. I already can't wait for the days I see green everywhere again, but alas, there are still about four months to go until then. In the meantime, at least I've got these photos to remind me of great autumn days, and the city I love.

Hello 2015

This New Years Eve was spent quietly at home with my husband marathoning and pigging out. Not terribly exciting, but for us it was the perfect way to spend our first New Years as a married couple. This is the time of year when we all contemplate how little or far we've come in the past year, and where we want to go from here. This passed year has been amazing and terrifying all at once. I graduated before imeediately moving to Ottawa with Gavin, there we struggled in our job search but had amazing adventures and met some great people. We grew together a great amount this passed year and at the end of it, got married (more on that in another post). We ended the year by moving yet again, and now we are starting a new life together completely fresh. So where to go from here? Well, anywhere...my goal this year is not to worry about the future as much as I have my whole life until now. I find myself constantly worrying about what's coming, and it adds a great amount of stress and it's just not how I want to live anymore. So this year, I want to take what comes, flow with the plan of the Universe and see where I end up...what an adventure it will be! I hopw you all spent this New Years Eve with loved ones and will have a great year, whatever comes :)
